Help with first tattoo!?!?!?
I have been looking for the perfect tattoo for awhile now, i have just come out of a pretty hard time in my life, and I am wanting a tattoo that represents having grown, and changed, something like never being the same again, its hard for me to explain, but if anyone has any ideas please feel free to let me know! I need the help. Also, is it really painful to get a tattoo on the top of your foot? Thanks!!!

Think about personal images that represent transformation to you. As far as tattoos on the top of your foot, expect to go barefoot for 2 weeks or more if you want it to heal properly. Hand and feet tattoos also tend to age and go blurry faster than other parts of the body: think of it this way: the pigment under your skin stays moist, and the more movement the tattooed area gets, (like twisting, bending, etc.) the faster the ink diffuses into surrounding tissue, making for blurred lines and fuzzy edges. Many reputable artists refuse work on hands or feet for this reason.

I have the tops of both feet done and the pain level for my right foot was second only to my throat being done. My wife also has the right foot done and it was painful for her as well. Roscoe said it right some of mine blurred or lightened up a bit and they were done by an International award winning artist, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad they are done. I have Tribal on my right foot and a skull with Japanese wind etc on the left.

I did a design for a christian t-shirt some years back in Corel draw and I morphed a caterpilar into a butterfly in about 4 stages of transition. As a tat, something like that would need to be kinda big. SO I don't think your foot would work for that. I also have a poster at home of a butterfly with a caption that says.."Change is having the courage to let go of what you are that you may become what you were meant to be" If you'd like, I could see if I can reproduce the caterpillar thing, then you could shop it around to some artists and get their input.
