Question
Alight, I have an idea for a tattoo (I'm sure it's not as original as I'd like it to be, but I'll deal.)
But I thought it'd be cool to get the marks the nails left on Christ's wrists tattooed on my wrist. My question is, does this come accross as kinda sacreligious? It's obviously not my intent to have it be that way, but just want some opinons

Re: Question
The "stigmata" tattoo idea is one I have considered, as well. To bear "the marks of Christ" might even be considered scriptural: wasn't it Paul who was said to bear the marks of Christ? Anyway, I went so far as to do sketches for what the marks would look like. I settled for simple "X"s to mark the spots, since the X has deeper symbolism, and thought they should go on the feet as well. Never followed through with the idea, though, for the same reasons you ask about. I know that my intentions would be noble, but wouldn't want to put across the wrong idea. I'd still consider getting stigmata, if folks on the board could assure me that it wouldn't be taken the wrong way.

Re: Question
I have once thought of that tattoo idea as well. I have debated that before, and just like everything else I have debated as of late, it is all what is in your heart, your motive your reason. I personally find no reason any longer why people would be affended. TO bear the marks of Christ is a great Honor ! ! !

Re: Question
I mean, I know what my intentions are, I've asked people who know me, and they know I'd be doing it for the correct reasons, however I'm apprehensive about portraying something incorrectly to non-christians (then again, it could prompt them to ask, which is cool)
Basically I'm not sure the good that it can do, outweighs the bad that it can do.

Re: Question
well matt then there is the other perspective...
Jesus was a Rebel ! ! !
Our Lord stirred it all up, pharasees saw him as a possessed man, but we know better.
Anything that is done for praise and glory for our Lord will be blessed by him. Anyone who questions why have done it is ignorant and it is your responsibility to educate them and spread the gospel.

Re: Question
After some deliberation and prayer, I've decided to get two crosses instead of the nail marks. Serves the same purpose, but for whatever reason, I wouldn't feel right having the nail marks tattooed there.

Re: Question
I think that is a good idea! Ive got a Jesus Fish on my left wrist, and i am contemplating getting the Holy Spirit symbol on my other wrist... When I think of the location of it,, i think of Christ's mark, and when I explain it to people, I tell them that... Everybody has seemed to like that..... Not too sure about the nails. I can see both ends of it!
