My new tattoo - expert advice requested.

Image

Here's a photo of my latest? I enjoy gardening so I went with that theme, placement is on the right hip area.

I'm thinking of getting that mole that is in the dragonfly's wing removed - is it possible w/out totally messing up the ink?

You experts out there - do you think if I had the mole removed that the small scar could be colored in. The tattoo is about 5"x7" in size and that mole is pretty small but still bugs me. I know - just get over it and leave it alone....

I am not a tattoo artist, but I would think that as long as the Dr's don't have to cut out too much to remove the mole, the remaining scar should be able to be tattooed over and fix things up.

It is a nice piece; good luck emoticon

I think it is a personal decision...the tattoo is not ruined by the mole, I would have hoped your artist would have worked around it but seeing how he didnt. I think at this point its just a point of whether or not it really is tha importnat.

I am sure once the mole is removed it cant be tattooed over. So as far as I see it, its just a matter of choice.

wish you well!

I agree; it does not look bad. So unless you just want to remove the mole, I wouldn't worry about it emoticon

I got a staph infection after a tattoo once (not actually from the tattoo) and it left a scar/bare spot in my tattoo a little smaller than a dime. I could probably try to get it touched up, but I just haven't.

The tat looks great. If you want to know if the mole removal will impact the tattoo it depends on how the mole is removed. You need to ask your doctor.

One thing about scar tissue, is it is hit and miss on if it will hold ink. So if removal results in a scar, it may not be posible to cover the scar with ink for the long term because the color will fall right out.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think it looks good and would leave it if it were me. No tattoo is perfect, no human is perfect and no body is perfect. I kind of like the idea of having my imperfections blended into my tattoo so that a symbiotic relationship between the God given body and the human artistic tattoo now become one. (Wow! I hope that doesn't sound as stupid to you as it just did when I read it back.)

I love the way my tattoo uses freckles to give my cross an interesting look...almost like real wood. I have no idea if the guy that did the work even thought about incorporating the freckles, but it works for me.

God Bless...Charley

I also didn't notice the mole until you pointed it out. I don't think it takes away from the tattoo or anything. In fact, I agree with Charley; I think it adds to the design. I got my first tattoo in the middle of a basketball tournament not thinking that my basketball shorts might rub part of the tattoo and mess it up (the tattoo is located right on the front of my hip area). My tattoo is only about an inch and a half in size, and I later realized that the shading at the bottom of my little cross was faded. It's probably not that noticeable to anyone else but me. At first I was obsessive about getting the tattoo fixed so that it would be "perfect." However, I eventually decided not the get the tattoo fixed because I believe that it symbolizes my relationship with God. My relationship definitely didn't start out very strong and it was tough and imperfect (just like the base of the cross), however it has gotten stronger and I have grown (just as the shading in the cross gets stronger as you move up it). This little imperfection reminds me that I am imperfect and broken without God and that my relationship with God came from imperfect beginnings, but with Him I am forgiven and a completely different person. That's just how I look at it. Hope that helps!

My first post but I hope I have something to offer. One suggestion I would have would be to try and get the mole frozen off (if it has to come off, looks fine to me). I had a mole that actually grew a bit, was growing next to a tat (and into it a bit) and my doctor was able to carefully freeze it and the freezing didn't affect the tat but removed the mole.

Even after you mentioned it I couldn't find it. I wouldn't even worry about it.

Nice tattoo by the way.
