The Total Tattoo Book...Amy Krakow
This book was published in 1994, and a good one to read!If you want tattoo history this gives you alot of insight, I will be reading it again because it's worth it! We should give respect to those who started this tattoo industry,it was not an industry at one time.

Re: The Total Tattoo Book...Amy Krakow
Sorry, but I have to completely disagree on this one. I thought the book was poorly researched, poorly written, and just plain bad...even for 1994. Nothing new in the way of pictures. The first few chapters which were the most pertinent I suppose, were still lacking. Amy spends more time boasting about her personal experiences with promoting conventions, etc. than really going into the history of tattooing. And cosmetic tattooing? Who cares?
If you want a tattoo history book on NYC (Krakow's books main geographical focus) buy Mike McCabe's books:
Tattooing New York City
New York City Tattoo: The Oral History of an Urban Art
I don't mean to be rude or nasty. Just blunt and honest. I thought it was a pointless book.
