Mohawk Man= LOVE...May 17th 07

Over the course of the next few weeks, I want to take some time to explain some of the decisions and changes that have been made with this ministry. As a tattoo artist and the President of this ministry, I have brought the collective goals and ideas (brought before me) to the body of the board. Together, we have made decisions which you are now seeing within these past few weeks. I will be addressing some of these here as the new site goes live and people have a chance to see it.

I pray you better understand the purpose and the goals that lay before us and that you will decide to stand with us.

Let me outline some of these....

New Logos (there are 6 in total).
Logo 1. The "1 Samuel 16:7" (mohawk prayer)

This logo is the first of 6 logos we are coming out with over the course of the next few months. It is based off of the verse in 1 Samuel 16:7:

"But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

When most would see the mohawk man in prayer. They would immediately think of something ridiculous or odd. They most definately wouldnt think of that person as being someone who loves God or would be in prayer. Which is what is so beautiful about this logo. Even us as tattooed people wouldnt look at this logo and think this accurately represents us...I mean, I dont have a mohawk.

What it does represent is how it feels to be a heavily tattooed person in Church.....different, a little off the mark....odd. Its not like that to everyone but to some, especially those who have very heavy can be a hard fact of their Christian walk.

We have used this logo to represent that we are not what you see on the outside, even if we do look very different than "normal". Who we are is defined clearly and only by our hearts for God and more importantly, for His heart for us.

Its one of the many logos we are using to represent many different ideas we are approaching with this ministry that directly effect tattooed Christians all over the country. They are not all this edgy but each of them represents a different theme and a different Bible verse which directly pretains to tattooed Christians.

As Christians we are called to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 15:12). No matter what we look like, no matter how others treat us, no matter how odd or "yuppy" someone looks, we are ALL called to love one another as Christ loves us.

So we stand behind the logo and not because it is 100% accurate of how anybody looks but because 100% how it is going to ask us and others to question what someone who loves and is loved by God looks like. And then ask us to love them anyway.

The law of love is the only perfect law;

James 2:8 "If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well."

Love is the key, it is the standard and even though it might be hard to live as a tattooed Christian, both inside the Church and inside the Tattoo Community, it is how we were called (1 Corinthians 7:17).

There is nothing wrong with being tattooed, tattoos are beautiful. There is nothing wrong with loving Jesus...he is beautiful. Yet both have challenges and both are difficult in their own ways. We are bothers and sisters, we are tattooed people and we are ALL loved by a wonderful Savior!

You are loved by a beautiful God, with a heart for tattooed people. How amazing is that??

May God bless and keep you all, as only He can!

Just in case you want to know....this is me.
