O' Body of Death!!...August 17th 07
21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So much talking is done about getting tattooed or not getting tattooed. So much debate on whether or not it is wrong or right in the eyes and heart of our Lord.
Paul talks directly to the walk of law and sin. He talks directly to the body of death in which we are apart of in this life.
Most Christians never truly come to the point of realizing their full life within the Resurrection of Jesus. We come to the power of Christ on the cross and the words of hope He whispers to us within that hope. We realize we are saved and then we come to a point to where we realize something is still wrong. That there is a battle to be fought. Many of us look outwardly for the battle....looking to how others live, how others act and look. Walking around countlessly judging others and their choices and actions, as if we have any right to cast a single stone.
In this passage in Romans Paul directly points out the fact of the battle. He points out that our Spirits (meaning the Spirit of God in us) and our flesh are not the same thing. We are not our flesh. Our spirits are housed in our flesh in this earth but we are not of our flesh anymore...because Christ has made us free. Paul deals with this point directly in verses 4,5 & 6.
So what are we to assume? Can we free ourselves from our flesh? Not in this life....in this world there will always be a battle for us to fight....to take hold of our flesh and bring it into capitivity to the fullness and the newness of Christ.
Paul writes....Romans 8:3
3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
I write all this to make a point...a point about one reason, one of the many reasons I see that tattooing is powerful and beautiful...
We are called to bring our flesh into capitivity of our Spirits...not by our own admissions but by believing that Christ is Lord of all and is Lord of the Spirit that lives within us. THat the price of sinful flesh was paid by the blood of Jesus.
I see countless Christian people claiming their flesh and using sinful flesh for the proclamation and declaration of the Glory of GOD! How amazing is that!
We take something that wars against our Spirits...something in which our free and beautiful God-spirits are trapped and we use it too declare that Jesus is KING!!
Yes....it is beautiful to be tattooed. Not only beautiful but it is in the purest of terms...making a claim in the Natural of what God has done in the Spiritual.
We are saved from this body o' death...By JESUS. We claim our bodies...as a testament of our Faith, our Love, our THANKFULLNESS to JESUS that he has saved us...loves us....that He died for us....more importantly...that He ROSE FOR US!!!
Be proud this day my brothers and sisters....we have laid claim to what Satan has declared as his. We have taken back our Captive flesh and declared that in this house.... Jesus is KING.
